Join us for Open Gym!

Beginning in September, one-hour sessions will be open for pre-registration as we no longer offer drop-ins.

Open Gym is a FUN opportunity for children to explore the wonderful sport of gymnastics at their own pace. It is a supervised gymnastics playground where children are introduced to our state-of-the-art equipment, along with the skills involved in a safe, supervised, and non-structured environment. It is also a time when students can work on mastering skills they hope to obtain, and for all it’s a time to burn off some extra energy!

There are two areas of the gym at Maine Academy. The main gym is fully equipped for both boys and girls with all the apparatus for USA Gymnastics events, as well as trampolines and a large, in-ground foam pit area.

The Jungle Gym encompasses two levels which include slides, foam pits, and trampolines and is specifically designed for ages 1-6 with equipment just their size! Parents are welcome to explore the gym with their child, but are not permitted to use any of the equipment at any time. There is no cost or registration needed for parents and siblings who are not participating.

Open Gym is supervised by our safety-certified and trained staff at all times. Each one-hour session will begin with a 15 minute warm up and stretch and safety rules will be reviewed at that time. Coaches will then supervise all areas of the gym and children can play and practice on their own. MAG coaches are there to assist gymnasts, answer questions, and help demonstrate how to use our equipment safely

Attire: Participants should wear a leotard or tight-fitting apparel with no buttons, zippers or multiple layers of clothing that may restrict their movement. We recommend students pull long hair back and refrain from wearing any type of jewelry. It is also recommended that children refrain from wearing socks or leggings inside the gym area, as bare feet provide a more stable grip. There are no drinks or food permitted inside the gym areas, aside from water.

NEW OPEN GYM POLICY: All Open Gym participants are required to preregister and pay in full at least one hour prior to the start of the Open Gym session they wish to attend. Maximum capacity of each Open Gym session is 25 students. Click the button below to view the calendar of available dates to register.
